Five architectural moods in one giant landscaped playground.. The Scene
First opened in 1926, the 100-room Cloister Inn is the main lodging on this 356-acre property. It was designed by Addison Mizner, who once planned to turn all of Boca Raton into a giant resort. In his day, Whitneys and Vanderbilts checked in. Now, the resort counts celebrities like Robert Redford, John Travolta, Oprah Winfrey and Elton John among its list of visitors.

The Details
The rooms are divided among five buildings: the original Cloister, the 27-story Tower, the beachfront Beach Club, the waterfront Yacht Club and the Golf Villas. Each features individual decor. The Cloister offers muted, Old World taste, while the Tower is done in contemporary business style with high-rise views. The Beach Club is furnished in Caribbean-inspired hardwoods, and the Yacht Club looks like a Venetian villa with sumptuous furnishings to match. The Golf villas are spacious but unassuming. The resort offers a 25-slip marina, as well as numerous restaurants and bars. From fishing to croquet, every possible water sport, land sport and resort amenity is available on the premises.
